Program Details

Horse Pens 40 is a historic outdoor nature park, a natural wonderland of unique rock formations nestled atop Chandler Mountain in the foothills of the Appalachians. It also is one of the most concentrated boulder fields in the world! Whether you are a beginner or a pro rock climber, there is something for everyone to climb. There are a variety of routes ranging from V0-V12 and some of the greatest views of Alabama!

Total Trip Price: $140

Trip Type: Active

Hiking, trekking, biking, rafting, and kayaking adventures all over the world, made for beginners and outdoor types.

Accommodations: Camping – Frontcountry

Camping with access to most amenities, usually have access to running water, bathrooms, showers, and cell phone reception.

Challenge Rating: 3 - Average

Active during the duration of trip, nothing too strenuous. Prior experience not necessary.

Included in Price: 

Transportation from Campus Recreation and back, staff guides, climbing gear, all camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad) 

Meals: Saturday Lunch and dinner, Sunday breakfast and lunch, snacks 

Not Included in Price: 

Water bottle, sunscreen

Meals: Saturday breakfast, Sunday dinner
