Program Details

We'll be headed down to Rancho Margot where we'll spend 6 days living on an eco-sustainable farm! Students will participate in the farms Sustainable Living Immersion Program with sustainability workshops, service activities, and of course outdoor recreation! As a participant of the Sustainable Living Immersion, you will have an opportunity to re-establish a strong connection with the natural world, explore an alternative method of development that operates as a closed-loop system, and develop a model of sustainability that you can apply to your own life. Sustainable Living Immersion is an introduction to the concepts of sustainable living in various aspects of your own life including relationships to food, energy, waste management, responsible production and overall consumption. Daily sustainability workshop topics include microorganisms, composting, dairy production, farm-to-table practices, and Costa Rican Culture, while the service learning components will touch on seedlings & planting, chemical-free farming, animal care & wellness, permaculture practices, and community service programming with the local community. This program is a zero-credit opportunity that will count towards your co-curricular transcript to satisfy Honors College, Global Citizen Award, and Career Readiness Badging programs.
